23. februarja je Volkswagen China objavil, da je bila karoserijska delavnica njene tovarne Volkswagen (Anhui) MEB končana, namestitev opreme pa naj bi bila končana marca.
According to Volkswagen, the body shop was completed in only six months. The carmaker said that the MEB plant would be completed in mid-2022 with a design annual production capacity of 350000 vehicles. The pre production vehicle of its first new energy model is expected to go offline in the second half of 2022 and start mass production in the second half of 2023.
The construction of MEB plant began in April 2021. The factory covers an area of 500000 square meters. At present, more than 70 percent of the factory buildings have been built. In addition to the main venue, Volkswagen is also building a battery and auto parts supplier park, covering an area of 930000 square meters. The German carmaker giant said it plans to invest more than 140 million euros in the plant by 2025.
